Did You Know that the Sharks you will most likely encounter in Massachusetts….

….includes quite a few species? Most of the more dangerous sharks are nearly 100 miles offshore. However, an area where a "real danger" exists, is in the Outer Cape, which has a high density of seals.

Sharks that you may see nearshore include Great White, Smooth Dogfish, Spiny Dogfish, Basking Sharks, Porbeagle, Sand Tiger, and Shortfin Makos.

Sharks that you may see further from the shore include Common Thresher, Blue (the most populous in the area), Tiger, Smooth Hammerheads, and Whale.
